Coined/History
By Russian phycisian von Rustizky in 1873 for the clinical entity originally described by William McIntyre in 1850 as "mollitis ossium”. During an autopsy, Rustizky found eight separate tumours of the bone marrow, which he designated as ‘Multiple Myelomas’. Although Von Rustizky’s did not mention albuminuria (Bence Jones protein), in Russia, the term ‘Rustizky’s disease’ is often used for multiple myelomaIn 1889  O. Kahler (1849-1893) and H. Huppert (1832-1904) independently introduced the term “multiple myeloma”.
Definition
Myeloma is a usually malignant tumor of cells that are normally found in the bone marrow like multiple myeloma which arises from abnormal proliferation of plasma cells (responsible for adibodies production).
